About This Session
One of the most surgically precise tech-death songs released in recent years, “Algorithmic Salvation” by Zenith Passage is a masterclass in controlled chaos. Pulled from their 2023 album *Datalysium*, this track pushes the genre forward with relentlessly intricate rhythms, polymetric riffing, ultra-dense synth mapping, and hyper-clean execution across every instrument. Zenith Passage sit at the bleeding edge of progressive death metal, and this track captures their modern, almost synthetic sense of groove, clarity, and technicality like no other.
The man behind the final mix is Dave Otero (Flatline Audio), widely known for his work with Archspire, Cattle Decapitation, and Allegaeon. Otero thrives in technically maximal environments and applies an almost surgical precision to sonic detail while keeping the music alive and immediate. His work on “Algorithmic Salvation” balances crushing rhythmic density and sample-accurate timing against a surprisingly wide stereo image and dynamic musical depth.
Mixing this session demands a steady hand and sharp ears. You’ll dig into complex layered guitars sitting across multiple frequency ranges, precise automation control to carve space for synth leads and harmonized tapping lines, and time-aligned, velocity-shaped vocals riding tight on top of a brutally edited kick-snare performance. You’ll also have to manage low-end annihilation against pristine clarity with careful multiband compression, serial saturation chains, and calculated limiting for genre-appropriate aggression without phase clutter.
