About This Session
Aggressive, modern, and meticulously crafted, “Face Everything and Rise” is one of Papa Roach’s most sonically ambitious tracks—featuring razor-sharp guitar layers, tight vocal hooks, and a massive chorus that bridges metal with radio-ready precision. Pulled from the 2015 album *F.E.A.R.*, this song marks a pivotal evolution in the band’s sound, integrating electronic atmospheres and cinematic textures into their hard rock foundation. It stands as a benchmark for punchy, radio-polished metal production.
Mixed by Kane Churko—known for his genre-defining work with artists like Five Finger Death Punch, In This Moment, and Ozzy Osbourne—this session offers a revealing look at his signature hybrid style. Operating out of The Hideout in Las Vegas, Kane is known for fusing extreme clarity and aggression, and this track is a textbook case of enhancing impact without losing depth or dimension.
The mix presents a range of advanced challenges. The layered guitars demand micro-dynamic and phase precision, with multiple rhythm and lead parts that need to stay wide and aggressive without cluttering the midrange. The vocal production involves several layers of doubles, harmonies, and effects—dialed in for maximum lift without masking core transients. Massively compressed drums, hyper-edited for punch and tightness, live inside a mix dense with synths and ambient FX. You’ll need to navigate saturation control, mix bus processing, automation lines, and transient shaping to achieve the balance Kane pulls off.
