Buster Odeholm is a force in modern metal. A Swedish multi-instrumentalist, producer, mix/master engineer, and creative visionary, Buster has built a reputation for blending extreme heaviness with clinical precision. He has played a major role in shaping the sonic identity of today’s progressive metal scene.

Born January 7, 1992, in Glumslöv, Sweden, Buster rose to prominence as the drummer for Vildhjarta and the founding guitarist, drummer, and primary producer for Humanity’s Last Breath. He has been writing, performing, and producing across instruments and roles since 2009. More recently, he became the co-writer, drummer and producer for Stockholm-based metalcore outfit Thrown, releasing the EP Extended Pain and their acclaimed debut album EXCESSIVE GUILT in 2024.

Buster’s approach to production is all about fearless experimentation. He embraces happy accidents, breaks the traditional rules, and pushes the limits of sound design. In his course “How It’s Done w/ Buster Odeholm”, he shares his creative process, including techniques like clipping DI tracks, stacking whammy pedals, and pitch-shifting guitar chords. His tutorials dive deep into advanced production methods such as three-stage drum compression, precise preamp EQing, and building texture with unconventional sound sources.

He is also the founder of Odeholm Audio, a company that offers drum samples, bass libraries, IRs and other tools designed for modern metal producers. He often shares insights into his gear choices, including his preferred headphones, microphones, and software setups.

As a mix and mastering engineer, Buster has worked with a wide range of heavy artists including Silent Planet, Born of Osiris, Oceano, Reflections, and most recently, Orbit Culture’s upcoming release on Century Media.
