Joe Rickard is a highly accomplished drummer, producer, and mixing engineer known for his dynamic work across rock, metal, and alternative genres. With a career spanning over two decades, Joe has built a reputation for his precision, power, and musicality, both on stage and behind the console. From performing with chart-topping bands to mixing records for some of the biggest names in modern rock and metal, Joe brings a deep understanding of what makes a song hit hard, emotionally and sonically.
Joe’s musical journey began in Houston, Texas, where he took up drumming at an early age. His drive and natural talent led him to his first record deal at 17. Lots of grinding on the road led to the opportunity to join the band Red at 21. With Red, he toured extensively and recorded several major-label albums, helping shape the band’s signature cinematic rock sound. He later joined In Flames, stepping into the drum seat for one of Sweden’s most influential metal bands. With his powerful and precise playing style, Joe brought a fresh energy to In Flames both in the studio and on stage throughout his time with them.
While building a successful career as a drummer, Joe also developed a passion for music production and mixing. After stepping away from full-time touring, he transitioned into studio work, where he quickly established himself as a go-to mixer and producer for artists looking for modern, hard-hitting soundscapes. His mixing credits include names like Three Days Grace, Breaking Benjamin, Starset, In Flames, Limp Bizkit and Apocalyptica, among many others.
In the studio, Joe is known for creating mixes that are both aggressive and polished.
