Adam “Nolly” Getgood
Adam “Nolly” Getgood is a powerhouse in modern music—a bassist, producer, engineer, and entrepreneur redefining how metal is made and heard. Born in Singapore but raised in Somerset, England, and a graduate of BIMM Music Institute Bristol, Nolly first made waves as a multi-instrumentalist in Red Seas Fire before joining the progressive-metal pioneers Periphery in 2011.
From 2011 through 2017, Nolly toured extensively with Periphery, supporting iconic acts like Dream Theater, The Dillinger Escape Plan, and DevilDriver, even headlining the Pepsi Max Stage at Download Festival. He played on four albums—including Periphery II, Juggernaut, Clear, and Select Difficulty—helping define the djent sound with articulate, thunderous bass tones. In August 2017, he stepped back from touring to focus on production, though Periphery continued to use his backing tracks live.
Nolly’s production journey began with demos and grew into a full-blown career mixing for top-tier artists like Devin Townsend, Animals As Leaders, Architects, SikTh, and Solace. Known for his clarity and punch, he’s mastered mixing drum kits, bass, guitars, and vocals using a blend of analog gear and software—often working on a laptop with headphones, aided by frequency analyzers for precision.
In a 2015 interview, he explained:
“Once I get into something I want to achieve a really decent level at it. I’m not satisfied to suck at something… here I am seven years later, … mixing for clients on the other side of the world.”
This mindset—relentless curiosity and precision—has cemented his reputation as one of metal’s most trusted engineers.
In 2016, alongside drummer Matt Halpern, Derya Nagle, and Misha Mansoor, Nolly co-founded GetGood Drums. Born from countless hours tuning, recording, and experimenting with drum sounds, GGD delivers pro-grade virtual drum libraries, MIDI packs, and VSTs. Their flagship libraries offer real-world tone and performance feel—without the need for expensive studios—empowering creators from bedroom producers to major studios.
GGD’s ethos mirrors Nolly’s: deep technical understanding, user-first design, and sonic excellence. Their Matt Halpern Signature library, recorded in a Baltimore live room, exemplifies their meticulous process.
A respected voice on high-gain tone, Nolly has partnered with Bare Knuckle Pickups on demo guitars and signature pickup sets. In 2025, articles praised his harmonic approach to distortion and mid-range clarity, noting his insistence that “tone starts with the player”—not just the amp. His expertise shaped tone components in Manson Guitars’ award-winning Oryx series.
From the stage to the console, code, and sample pad, Nolly embodies the modern creative. Whether laying down syncopated basslines, sculpting crushing mixes, or building software tools that redefine drum production, he bridges art and technology with elegance.
